Meet Matt

As the fan page began to get recognition from not just peabodies, but also the group themself, Matt decided to change the name to BEP Nation. The new name represents the community of peabodies throughout the world, and how we have become a community of peabodies despite being across the nation.

Matt attended his first Black Eyed Peas concert in Miami in 2021, and was able to meet will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and J. Rey Soul. He has since joined the group's Creative Direction Team, where has serves as one of their Research Managers. You can see content he has worked on with the group on their official social media platforms.

Despite his many ventures, Matt always stays true to his origins of A Tribe Behind the Sun. He continues to research the history of the group, and through his work, is pursing a degree in Communications.

Matthew Willar has been a Peabody since 2009. He grew up listening to the Black Eyed Peas, and was drawn to the group when they released The E.N.D. His favorite song was "Boom Boom Pow," which he discovered watching the Today show with his family. He then began to research the group and was drawn to their diverse music throughout the years.

In 2020, he created the fan page A Tribe Behind the Sun on Instagram. It represented all eras of the group. A Tribe comes from the original group that will.i.am and apl.de.ap created, A.T.B.A.N. Klann, which stands for "A Tribe Beyond A Nation." Behind comes from the group's first album, Behind The Front, and The Sun came from the group's most recent album at the time, Masters of the Sun Vol.1.
